Introducing Concord Chiropractor Dr. Andy Smith

Concord Chiropractor, Dr. Andy SmithI found myself in Duke hospital with my neck dislocated and broken from a football injury that afternoon. I was quarterback for the Duke University freshman team, with hopes of one day playing football as a career. My dream ended that day and my life took a different direction.

During the several years of recovery my father encouraged me to see a friend of his who was a Chiropractor. I was still having a great deal of problems from my injury, so I went. I was very nervous about the chiropractic treatment, but you know, it didn't hurt. In fact I actually felt good and everything got tremendously better. It worked so well, I decided to go to Chiropractic school myself!

After completing his education at Duke University, Dr. Smith was accepted to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. During his four years at Palmer, courses included: biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, x-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques, and patient care in the Palmer College Public Clinic. After graduating in 1977, Dr. Smith returned to Concord to establish his practice. "We love the difficult cases and the skeptics," smiles Dr. Smith. "I still remember the concerns and apprehensions I had when I went to the chiropractor after my injury. So we make it a point to explain everything in advance, answer questions and attempt to over communicate. Patients appreciate that."

Dr. Smith is married to Nancy and they have 3 daughters, Hannah, Alisa, and Katrina, son in law's Wayne and David, grandson Caleb, and another grandbaby on the way. Everyone in the family receives regular chiropractic care, including 4 month old Caleb!

Dr. Andy Asks some important questions of interest to Concord residents - Chiropractor Concord Dr. Andy Asks...

Is average normal or is normal average?
Every chiropractor knows that so-called "normal" is merely an average. What's normal for you may not be normal for anyone else. So the chiropractic approach to better health is to tailor our approach to the unique needs of each of our Concord patients.
Which organs are extra?
You don't have any spare parts. Sure, we can survive without our tonsils, appendix, gall bladder and several other tissues, but each serves a purpose. We chiropractors recognize this. So the chiropractic approach I use in Concord is to reduce nerve interferences to the control and regulation of every tissue, organ and system of your body.
